Imagine the scenario; 10 years ago you walk into your favourite supermarket, be it Safeway, Tesco or Sainsburys, and see a rack of clothes. You would have been shocked, confused and a little bit taken a back by it. Supermarkets sold food back then and nothing else. But oh, how times have changed. Now supermarkets are a one stop shop for everything; from electronics to cat food, from clothing all the way to the food that you usually expected.
The twist, though, is that now some of the clothing isn’t shite. There are leading lines on sale at great prices and now these are some of the most populated clothing areas in some towns in total. Supermarkets, too, have the power to block moves from other clothing shops. In my local town there was talk of a Primark opening but it was blocked by Tesco who threatened to charge for carparking. Supermarkets now own the towns.
