2012 was the year fashion met Disney, as the Harrods Christmas window was filled with Disney princesses, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lady Gaga, Anna Wintour and more were transformed into a Disney cartoon for Barney’s Christmas Campaign and Minnie Mouse hit LFW as Giles Deacon, Michael Van Der Ham and Richard Nicholl were inspired by the polka dot clad mouse.
Now Taylor Swift has let her hair down and dressed up as Rapunzel for a new Disney Parks advert. She is perched on top of a tall tower waiting for her prince to come, but of course this fairytale is a tad complicated as there is a fast turn around of the prince charmings. The portrait shot by Annie Leibovitz is truly magical and Taylor is joining an impressive group of stars who have appeared in the Disney portrait series.
Since it began in 2007, the series has featured David Beckham as Prince Charming, Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella, Rachel Weisz as Snow White, Jessica Biel as Pocahontas and Beyonce Knowles as Alice in Wonderland.
Taylor said about playing the princess trapped in the tower: ‘It’s such a wonderful character to get to play, a childhood fantasy come into reality for me.’ The star and her brother used to imagine going there when they were younger, as she said: ‘We were able to escape to that place anytime we had a hard time. Any time you’re going through something rough, you can go back into your imagination and you’re at Disney World.’
Lana Del Rey is also dressing up as a Disney princess, as she is playing the part of Snow White on the cover of Tokyo’s Numero March issue with a big bow planted on her head that would make Minnie proud and she is taking a big bite out of a red juicy apple. But these two pop stars aren’t the only ones who have been inspired by Disney, take a look at all the stars who have had a Disney makeover in the gallery below…
