What time did you get up this morning? Friday is traditionally the day of the week when we hit the ol’ snooze button an extra couple of times, as hey . . . its PRACTICALLY the weekend already. Not so the fashion fans of London town, who were up, and out of the house, making a teeny detour on the way to work today – via TOPSHOP Oxford Circus, ready for the launch of absolutely genius London designer, JW Anderson’s massive collaboration with the fashion megastore.
We asked a few of the eager shoppers why they’d taken the trouble to get there in such good time. Fashion PR Sarah is a huge fan of JW Anderson, ‘he’s going to be absolutely mega’ – and had her eye on; ‘The JW jumper, the stripes and the paisley. Everything, in fact!’ Charlotte Wood hadn’t managed to decide on her purchase in advance but said; ‘I’m a massive fan. I think the printed denim looks tempting, so are the halternecks’ meanwhile, Lydia had come all the way from Spain for the launch! OK, so she was actually here for London Fashion Week but said she was planning to buy the turtle sweater and shirt – ‘I love it all!’
By the time 9 o’clock came around there was a sizeable crowd outside the door and down the street – a particularly well dressed crowd, all told – and a ripple of excitement went around as the doors finally swung open. The crowd descended enthusiastically on the merchandise, and, before the music got turned up really loud you could hear audible squeals of delight as they got stuck into the rails. Later on we could see Sir Phillip Green taking in the sight with his team. What satisfying start to the day.
