It’s official. Fashion has quite literally gone pet-crazy. From Karl Lagerfeld’s unending obsession with his fluffball Choupette to the launch this week of fashion/dog blog StyleTails.com aka ‘Sartorialist for Dogs’, it seems that every fashion insider has a pretty pet that they want to show off.
Of course Choupette is reigning the Queen of the pet world, and as such has been featured in yet another fashion editorial. V magazine has treated us to a 10 page spread of cat-tastic shots, bringing together Karl’s furry friend and model Laetitia Casta who tells V, “She [Choupette] is an unusually beautiful cat, and it was a lovely experience.”

V Editor Sarah Cristobel also tells us that the increased visibly of cat models – who can earn up to $500 a day – has sparked a boom in familiar acquisition, “Definitely, people in the office have been like, ‘I should get a cat. [Cats’] personalities do match the fashion set – they’re beautiful and graceful but also kind of finicky.”
But Choupette can’t hog all of the limelight – indeed there were plenty of fashion pets on the block before she showed her perfectly proportioned face. Take Tom Ford’s two smooth Fox terriers – India and Angus, who both starred in A Single Man. Or Pucci designer Peter Dundas’ chocolate Labrador named Hannibal and Roberto Cavalli’s German Shepherd Lupo. And who could forget Donatella’s super-cute Jack Russell terrier?
